Accor plans to open 47 hotels in India by 2015

Global hotel operator Accor announced plans to open 47 hotels in India by 2015 as part of diversifying its business ventures across the country.

The announcement was made at the opening of Novotel, Accor's mid-scale hotel brand, in Ahmedabad.

Novotel, Ahmedabad is the leading hotel operator's 23rd property in India. It is also Accor's second hotel in the city after Formule1, another brand owned by the Group, which opened this year.

Another hotel under the Novotel brand would start operating in Pune in two weeks and one more upscale hotel coming up in Gandhinagar.

It is targeting occupancy levels of at least 60 per cent within a year at Novotel, Ahmedabad and 75 per cent in three years.

Present in 92 countries, with more than 3,500 hotels and 4,50,000 rooms, Accor has over a dozen brands, ranging from luxury to budget, in its portfolio.
